Alice W. Meehan, Esq. is an attorney practicing for over 30 years. Ms. Meehan concentrates her practice in the areas of Wills, Trusts, Estate Probate and Estate and Trust Litigation. This area of practice includes preparation of Wills and Trusts, Powers of Attorney, Living Wills and Health Directives, Guardianship Applications, litigating will contests on behalf of beneficiaries or the estate.
Ms. Meehan grew up in River Edge and attended Academy of Holy Angels (1983) High School in Demarest, New Jersey, where she was accepted into the National Honor Society. Ms. Meehan was a Jefferson Scholar at the University of Virginia, graduating in 1987 with a B.A. in English Literature from the College of Arts and Sciences. She obtained her Juris Doctorate from George Mason University School of Law in Arlington, Virginia (1990). Ms. Meehan is licensed to practice law in the State of New Jersey & New Jersey Federal District Courts (1991), the State of New York (1997), the Commonwealth of Virginia (1991) and, the U.S. Supreme Court (2016).
Ms. Meehan belongs to the Bergen County Bar Association, the New Jersey State Bar, New York Bar, and Women Lawyers of Bergen County (WLIB). Ms. Meehan is presently a member of the Central New Jersey Alumni Association for the University of Virginia.
She is currently the Public Defender for the Borough of Oradell, having been appointed annually since 2004 and prior to that was the Public Defender for the Central Municipal Court of Bergen County from 1997 until 2003. Ms. Meehan has served and has been recognized as a Fee Arbitrator in Bergen County, formerly served on the Bergen Community Board of Paralegal Studies in Paramus New Jersey. Ms. Meehan is a former two-term councilwoman from River Edge as well as the Attorney for the Zoning Board of Adjustment in River Edge.
